Job summary

eFinancialCareers in London is seeking a Junior Backend Data Platform & AI Engineer to own the operational data and AI layer supporting quantitative research and analytics, allowing downstream teams to focus on modelling.

The role acts as the internal bridge across backend engineering, data platforms and AI workflows, working directly with quantitative and analytics teams while also acting as a technical interface for external data vendors and DevOps consultants.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of backend, data engineering or AI experience.
• Strong Python/Go/Java backend with data ingestion exposure.
• Quantitative/technical degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Own ingestion pipelines, data cleaning and schema enforcement.
• Manage storage for time-series and cross-sectional data.
• Support internal AI/LLM workflows and model endpoints.
• Implement logging, validation and failure alerts for data jobs.
• Coordinate with data vendors and DevOps consultants.
