Job summary

Baltic Recruitment Services Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a state-of-the-art facility in Sedgefield, County Durham. You will work on RF and microwave products from concept to volume production, collaborating with experienced engineers and supporting in-house RF/mmWave manufacturing capabilities.

Design precision mechanical components and 2D/3D models in SolidWorks, ensuring EMI/EMC, thermal, and environmental requirements.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong 2D and 3D CAD skills, preferably SolidWorks.
• Experience designing high-precision mechanical components in demanding environments.
• Good understanding of PCB integration, RF shielding and EMI/EMC considerations.
• Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes, particularly CNC machining of aluminium alloys.
• Excellent GD&T and engineering drawing standards; able to design machined, cast, moulded, sheet metal parts.
• Experience with PDM/PLM systems and engineering change processes.

Responsibilities

• Design precision mechanical components and assemblies, including lightweight enclosures and heatsinks.
• Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D CAD models using SolidWorks.
• Ensure designs meet RF, thermal, mechanical and environmental requirements.
• Carry out or support thermal analysis, CFD, and FEA for various load conditions.
• Develop designs for manufacture, assembly and cost reduction using CNC, die-casting, additive manufacturing and sheet metal processes.
• Produce BOMs, GD&T drawings and assembly instructions with documentation control.
• Support prototype builds, first article approval and continuous improvement.
