An exciting opportunity for an experienced RF Engineer to join an innovative stealth start-up in Saffron Walden to focus on developing, testing, and enhancing RF circuits, antennas, and systems to meet performance, reliability, and regulatory standards. This company are tackling some of the world’s most pressing challenges and is founded by experts in their field, who have already realised success with other start-ups, so it offers the chance to work in an environment filled with technological innovation whilst working on cutting-edge tech.

Our client values those with absolute top academics - therefore, requires a 2.1 or 1st from internationally renowned university and all A's at A-Level (or international equivalent).

Due to the nature of some client projects, you must be willing and eligible to obtain DV Security Clearance. This generally requires a long-term UK residency history (typically 10+ years) and the ability to pass government security vetting. You can join the team and work on other commercial projects while your clearance application is progressing.

Location: North Uttlesford / Greater Cambridge Area – fully on-site due to the nature of the role

Requirements for RF Engineer:

• Highly experienced in RF Design and Testing
• Experienced in RF Design Software such as HFSS, CST, ADS, MATLAB
• 1st class honours or a high 2.1 degree in Engineering, Maths, Physics, Electronics or similar.
• In-depth understanding of phased array antennas and beamforming technologies
• Experience with RF Front-end components and RF communication standards
• Knowledge of SDRs and tools like GNU Radio for signal processing
• Strong problem-solving ability
• You must be in a position to qualify for SC Clearance due to the nature of some customers
• A full UK driving licence, or a commitment to obtaining one within six months of starting

Responsibilities for RF Engineer:

• Develop and refine RF components and systems, including antennas, filters, and amplifiers.
• Use simulation tools like HFSS, ADS, CST, and MATLAB to model and analyse RF systems.
• Conduct testing and validation of RF hardware to meet performance standards and regulatory requirements.
• Diagnose and address issues related to RF interference and signal integrity.
• Partner with multidisciplinary teams to integrate RF elements into broader systems.
• Design phased array antennas and implement beamforming technologies for advanced high-frequency applications.
• Record test outcomes and ensure adherence to EMC and EMI compliance standards.
• Work with Software Defined Radios (SDRs) and tools such as GNU Radio for signal processing and evaluation.
