Job description

As Revenue & Benefits System Support Officer, you will support the Revenues and Benefits Service, ensuring efficient operation and alignment with business objectives. Your role encompasses diagnosing and resolving system issues, enhancing service delivery, and maintaining legislative compliance. You will also facilitate continuous improvement through effective communication and collaboration with both internal teams and external partners.

What is the job role?

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our Revenues and Benefits Systems Support team and provide assistance in supporting all operational functions within the Revenues and Benefits Service to meet Business objectives as outlined in the Service and Operational Plans.

Main duties include but are not limited to:

  • Providing specialised support related to the IT systems used by the Revenues & Benefits service and its customers.
  • Running business processes to ensure all system areas remain operational.
  • Testing new system functionalities.
  • Investigating and logging system issues with support providers, tracking, diagnosing, and resolving or escalating as needed.
  • Conducting audit checks on daily batch processes, output, and financial reconciliation, liaising with support providers for resolution.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and appointment is conditional upon a satisfactory DBS check.

Who are we looking for?

We seek someone with extensive knowledge of legislation such as Benefits, Council Tax, and Business Rates. Ideally, familiarity with Housing Benefits is preferred.

You should have excellent IT skills, be organized, self-motivated, capable of problem-solving and analyzing complex data, and able to work well both independently and as part of a team. Accuracy, meeting deadlines, and a willingness to learn are essential.

In your application, please include examples demonstrating your experience or understanding of:

  • Housing Benefits (if applicable) or general Revenues and Benefits service knowledge.
  • High-level ICT knowledge and experience.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work under pressure with conflicting priorities and deadlines.
