The role of a Cloud Support Associate Engineer at Canonical

We solve interesting technical problems, from triaging complex cloud environment issues and Linux kernel crashes to OS configuration issues and root cause analysis, providing expert support and satisfaction to our peers and customers.

You will be responsible for delivering excellent technical support across the entire cloud technical stack at Canonical. You will manage your cases from problem qualification to resolution, transferring cases to colleagues or involving senior engineers when necessary.

Location: This is a remote role based in AMER or EMEA time zones.

What your day will look like

  • Work remotely providing technical support for employees.
  • Take ownership of new cases via phone, email, and web.
  • Keep customers updated and advocate for their needs.
  • Handle support cases according to SLA, ensuring high customer satisfaction.
  • Contribute to and maintain knowledge base articles.
  • Draft and distribute technical notices.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Continuously learn about our products and services.
  • Understand Ubuntu development to set correct customer expectations.
  • Maintain communication with team members locally and remotely.
  • Identify opportunities to improve service.

What are we looking for in you

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, MIS, Electrical Engineering).
  • Experience with Linux troubleshooting and server administration.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud computing concepts.
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization, containers, storage, networking, or related technologies.
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt, and handle pressure.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
  • Ability to travel.

Additional skills that you might also bring

  • Experience with virtualized environments like KVM, VirtualBox, VMWare.
  • Experience with open-source desktop technologies.
  • Active contribution to open-source projects.
