Woking Borough Council is offering a fantastic opportunity to join our busy and dedicated Revenues team as a Revenue Recovery Officer on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this important role, you’ll ensure timely and effective recovery of council tax and business rates by managing all stages of the recovery cycle. Your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Managing the full recovery process, including post-liability order actions
  • Processing and monitoring enforcement steps such as bailiff referrals, insolvency cases, and charging orders
  • Representing and supporting the Council at court, including liability order hearings and penalty notice applications
  • Building and maintaining relationships with external partners such as enforcement agents, solicitors, insolvency practitioners, and credit agencies
  • Handling communications with the public professionally and empathetically, both over the phone and in person
  • Ensuring compliance with the Council’s recovery policies and customer care standards
  • Supporting wider Revenues team activities as required
  • Performing other duties appropriate to the role at the direction of the management team

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a proactive, flexible, and detail-oriented individual with a strong sense of professionalism and customer service. You’ll need to demonstrate:

  • Experience or knowledge of revenue recovery processes
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Confidence in representing the Council at formal proceedings
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

This role requires regular attendance at the Woking Civic Offices and Court, but hybrid working is available when duties allow.
