Job summary

DHL Supply Chain operates warehouse functions inside HM Prison Leyhill, supporting the canteen service. The role involves leading the warehouse team and supervising prisoners, with a focus on safety and compliance.

Candidate will pass enhanced security vetting and work shifts Tue–Fri 12:00–20:00 and Sat 08:00–12:00, based on-site at the prison. On-site parking and rewards apply.

Qualifications

• Experience leading teams in a controlled environment is desirable.
• Ability to supervise staff and prisoners within a secure facility.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety rules and prison policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist Warehouse Manager with day-to-day operations on-site at the prison.
• Line-manage Warehouse Team Leaders and supervise prisoners at work.
• Ensure Health & Safety compliance and adherence to prison rules.
• Conduct staff training and inductions.
• Meet and exceed operational targets.

Pay Rate: £33,500

Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time)

Shift patterns: Tuesday to Friday 12pm 8pm Saturday 8am - 12pm

Location: HM Prison Leyhill

PLEASE NOTE: This role is based inside a prison and involves working alongside serving offenders. You will be required to pass enhanced security vetting as part of the recruitment process.

This isn't a standard warehouse role. At DHL Supply Chain, we run warehouse operations inside prisons supporting the HMPPS Canteen Service. This service allows offenders to use their own money to buy approved items such as food, toiletries and everyday essentials - with our teams responsible for picking, packing and distributing these orders within the prison.

A TYPICAL DAY MAY INVOLVE

• Assisting the Warehouse Manager with the day-to-day running of the warehouse operation (based on-site at the prison)
• Line management of the Warehouse Team Leaders and overall supervision of the prisoners whilst they are at work
• Ensuring compliance to Health & Safety as well as prison rules and regulations
• Staff training and inductions
• Meeting and exceeding operational targets

• Comfortable working inside a prison, alongside offenders
• Previous experience leading, managing or supervising a team
• Able to communicate clearly and deal with people, including in challenging situations
• Have 3 years UK address history (required for security clearance)
• IT literate to enable accurate and timely reporting
• Interested in doing a job that can make a real difference
