While the main contribution of The National Lottery to society is through funds to good causes, at Allwyn we put our purpose and values at the heart of everything we do. Join us as we embark on a once-in-a-lifetime, large-scale transformation journey by creating a National Lottery that delivers more money to good causes.

Further details about us are provided below, but now let’s focus on the role and who we’re seeking...

A bit about the role…
  1. A key role within the Retail Strategy sub-team, within Retail Strategy & Excellence, responsible for developing retail-wide strategic initiatives aligned with the Annual Business Plan.
  2. The team leads on scoping retail-wide bid commitments and conducting feasibility studies to ensure effective market introduction of initiatives.
  3. You will partner with the Retail Sales Team, Retail Channels Team, and Supply Chain Team to ensure that all future initiatives and business priorities are properly scoped using available resources and tools.

We operate a hybrid working model requiring employees to work from the office 3 days per week, spread across Monday to Friday.

What you’ll be doing…
  1. Reporting to the Senior Retail Strategy Manager, responsible for developing the future retail strategy in line with the annual business planning process and bid commitments.
  2. Ensuring effective handover of strategic initiatives to the Retail PCT, including planning, communication, and training.
  3. Keeping retailers at the heart of retail plans by delivering initiatives that meet sales, profit, and Good Cause contribution targets.
  4. Providing thought leadership to retail and channel operations leadership teams to deliver initiatives and future channel strategies.
  5. Representing retail interests while supporting the development of commercial initiatives, ensuring retailer requirements are considered.
What experience we’re looking for…
  1. Proven experience in planning and executing complex retail projects from conception to delivery, collaborating with leadership and cross-functional teams.
  2. Deep understanding of the UK retail landscape to advocate effectively for the retail channel in large-scale projects and change programs.
  3. Ability to work independently, developing major enhancements to current and future practices.
  4. Retailer-centric approach with demonstrable experience prioritizing retailer needs.
  5. Excellent presentation and communication skills, confident in engaging with senior management and teams.
Key Measures of Success:
  1. Successful planning and implementation of retail projects, delivered on time and within budget.
  2. Clear project scope, milestones, and timelines, with timely reporting.
  3. Comprehensive project evaluation, results measurement, and stakeholder recommendations.
  4. Established stakeholder map and strong cross-functional relationships supporting retail strategy.
  5. Effective management of third-party relationships where applicable.

  • Sustainability: Our aim is to be net zero by 2030, making us the first lottery provider globally to achieve this.
  • Inclusion and accessibility: We are committed to making all parts of The National Lottery inclusive, whether played in-store or online.
