Location: Fenton Wrights Bakery Shop (but maybe needed to work at other Wrights bakeries in Crewe)
Hours: 40 hours a week, worked flexibly Monday-Saturday (usually working 5 out of 6)
Salary: £13.71 per hour
Purpose
We’re looking for a hands-on and motivated Shop Manager to lead the daily operations of our Wrights bakery store. You’ll be responsible for delivering great customer service, maintaining high product standards, and managing a team to keep everything running smoothly. From overseeing stock and staff to creating a welcoming in-store experience, this role is a mix of leadership and day-to-day involvement on the shop floor.
Main Duties
Staff Management:
- Supervise, train, and manage bakery staff, ensuring they are following company standards and procedures.
- Schedule shifts, ensuring sufficient staffing during peak times.
- Monitor employee performance and conduct performance reviews.
- Handle employee issues, such as conflicts or discipline, in a professional and fair manner.
Customer Service
- Ensure customers receive exceptional service and high-quality Wrights products.
- Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally.
- Promote a positive, welcoming atmosphere in the shop.
Product Management
- Oversee the production and preparation of baked goods, ensuring freshness
- and quality.
- Ensure products are presented attractively and meet health and safety food standards.
- Maintain inventory control and reorder ingredients/raw materials as necessary.
- Coordinate with suppliers for purchasing raw materials and other bakery needs.
Financial Management
- Monitor and control financial requirements such as till performance, supplier inventory and cash management.
- Ensure the bakery stays within budgetary constraints while maintaining profitability.
- Assist and support with sharing views on pricing and product development to maintain competitiveness within the local area.
Health & Safety Compliance
Marketing & Sales:
- Promote bakery products and services through various channels and
- implement any centrally managed seasonal campaigns and promotions.
- Develop strategies to increase sales, customer loyalty, and community engagement.
Administrative Duties
- Handle cash tills, manage daily cash flow, and ensure accuracy in financial transactions.
- Manage inventory, ordering, and receiving of supplies.
- Maintain records of sales, inventory, and employee schedules.
Health, Safety & Environment Responsibilities
- Understand and ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment for staff and customers including ensuring correct use of protective clothing and equipment is available to all employees and that it is correctly used.
- Oversee daily cleaning routines and perform regular audits to ensure cleanliness.
- Investigate all accidents, incidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences promptly and report the findings Retail Operations Supervisor, and the Health Safety & Environmental Compliance Manager
- Ensure that appropriate remedial action is taken in respect of all reported defects and complaints
Qualifications And Experience
- Proven experience in shop/food management or a similar role in a food service environment.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and bakery operations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle customer complaints professionally.
- Basic financial literacy and an understanding of budgeting and cost control.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.
