Job description

Staff Shop Manager

Salary: £30'000 per annum
Location: Head Office, Tankersley, Barnsley
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, including one day per weekend.

Are you an experienced retail professional who enjoys creating a great customer experience and takes pride in running a well‑organised, high‑standard shop?

We're looking for a Staff Shop Manager to take responsibility for the day‑to‑day running of our colleague staff shop at Company Shop Group Head Office.

This is a unique opportunity to manage a shop that is all about our own colleagues. You'll be responsible for making sure the shop is well presented, fully stocked and running smoothly, whilst providing a friendly and helpful service to our colleagues every day.

You'll work closely with the wider Company Shop Group team to make sure we continue to deliver a great staff shop experience and that our colleagues are at the heart of everything we do.

About us

Company Shop Group (CSG), part of Biffa, is the largest commercial redistributor of surplus food and household products in the UK.

We enable some of the biggest retailers, manufacturers, food service and logistics providers to unlock value from surplus stock that may otherwise have gone to waste.

The surplus we handle is redistributed through our Company Shop stores and our award‑winning social enterprise, Community Shop, where we build stronger individuals and more confident communities.

Working with our partners, we deliver an incredible impact and we're proud to be a good business doing good.

About the role

As our Staff Shop Manager, you'll take ownership of the day‑to‑day running of the colleague staff shop at our Head Office.

You'll be responsible for ensuring the shop is well organised, fully stocked and maintained to a high standard, whilst delivering a great experience for our colleagues.

You'll need to be hands‑on, organised and confident working independently, whilst also building strong relationships with colleagues across the business.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Taking overall responsibility for the day‑to‑day running of the colleague staff shop.
  • Creating a welcoming, friendly and positive shopping experience for our colleagues.
  • Ensuring the shop is always clean, tidy, well‑presented and maintained to a high standard.
  • Managing stock levels, replenishment and availability, ensuring products are available when colleagues need them.
  • Monitoring stock and identifying opportunities to reduce waste and minimise losses.
  • Receiving deliveries and ensuring stock is stored and managed correctly.
  • Ensuring pricing, promotions and product information are accurate and clearly displayed.
  • Working with internal teams and suppliers to resolve any issues and ensure the smooth running of the shop.
  • Keeping accurate records and completing any required administration.
  • Monitoring sales and stock information and identifying opportunities to improve the shop.
  • Ensuring all Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures are followed.
  • Maintaining high standards of food safety, cleanliness and housekeeping.
  • Taking ownership of any issues that arise and finding practical solutions.
  • Supporting CSG initiatives and promotions within the staff shop.
  • Building positive relationships with colleagues and being a friendly and approachable point of contact.
  • Working flexibly to meet the needs of the business.
