Job summary

Peaple Talent is recruiting for a Mechanical Estimator to take ownership of cost estimating for large scale retail M&E projects across the UK. You’ll prepare detailed cost estimates, review quotations, run tender processes, and analyze market data to keep pricing competitive.

The role offers hybrid working, a strong salary plus a £5,000 car allowance, 25 days holiday, a birthday day off, and a clear progression path with investment in development.

Qualifications

• At least five years in a similar estimating capacity in construction, ideally with a mechanical contractor.
• Sound knowledge of mechanical specifications and materials.
• Confidence interpreting specifications, drawings, schedules of work and Bills of Quantities.
• Retail M&E experience is a bonus but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Preparing detailed mechanical cost estimates, material take-offs and cost breakdowns
• Reviewing supplier and subcontractor quotations for accuracy and compliance
• Running the tender cycle from enquiry through bid preparation to handover
• Analysing market rates, benchmark data and project risk to keep pricing sharp and competitive
• Helping drive continuous improvement across the estimating function
