Job summary

Mitie Group plc. in Birmingham is seeking a Multiskilled Engineer with an HVAC bias to join our Facilities Management team, supporting a portfolio of high-profile retail sites.

You will maintain, service and repair HVAC and building services equipment across environments, with autonomy and a focus on reliability. The role covers PPMS and reactive maintenance, diagnosing faults, ensuring safety, and communicating with clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds qualification, or equivalent, in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Proven experience within a maintenance, facilities management or building services environment.
• Strong HVAC and mechanical maintenance experience within commercial environments.
• Strong UK industry experience with a sound understanding of Health & Safety legislation and statutory compliance requirements.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to manually handle tools and equipment up to 20kg, work at height and safely use vertical access equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, service and repair HVAC and associated building services equipment across retail and commercial environments.
• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on HVAC, mechanical and building services systems.
• Diagnose faults, identify root causes and implement effective repairs to minimise downtime and ensure operational continuity.
• Deliver outstanding customer service by responding to client queries and keeping stakeholders informed of all site activities.
• Oversee statutory compliance works and supervise contractors and sub-contractors, ensuring all works are completed safely and to the highest standards.
• Complete all work-related documentation accurately and within required timescales.
