Responsibilities

  • Provide front-of-house service in hospital outlets.

  • Carry out cash handling and till operation.
  • Maintain high hygiene and cleanliness across the area.
  • Assist with food preparation in main kitchen when required.
  • Record temperatures and monitor safety and suitability of foods.
  • Work in chilled/wet environments and use cleaning equipment.

Job description

The retail catering service provides a high quality service to staff and visitors to our hospitals and maintains a high standard in customer care., The role of a Retail Catering Assistant is to work within the restaurants or food outlets within the retail area.Provide a front-of-house service which is customer focused and includes preparing and providing beverages, snacks meal items, cash handling, the use of a till, temperature recording and restocking of goods.There will also be a need for some minimal food preparation with cleaning and washing up responsibilities., General Duties

  • Adhere to good Customer service.
  • Cash handling and the using of tills.
  • Maintaining good hygiene practices within the department.
  • Preparation of drinks and snacks to Brand standards
  • Food preparation as required in the main production kitchen.
  • Ensuring that foods are checked for suitability for special diets.
  • Working within chilled areas and in wet environments.
  • Able to accurately record and monitor temperatures to required frequencies.
  • Washing of crockery and cutlery and catering utensils use industrial machines, also manually washing when required.
  • Responsibility, for ensuring the high standards of cleanliness is maintained throughout the work area adhering to Trust Policies and Procedures.
  • To carry out cleaning tasks, both specific and generic, to prescribed work schedules for designated areas, in line with Trust policies and procedures
  • Ensuring the correct and economical use of materials, provisions and equipment and seeking advice from Supervisor when in doubt.
  • Report to you Team leader any mechanical defects and any equipment and any mishaps or untoward incidents., Able to carry out instructions and duties as detailed in the job description.
    As aRetail Catering Assistant you will become an active member of our team working to provide Retail customer service experience for staff and visitors in our busy restaurants.

We are looking for a team member who demonstrate enthusiasm, an eagerness to learn and to develop themselves. Previous experience is desirable, but not essential as, full training will be provided. also could have Barista Knowledge (Desirable ) A good standard of English language both written and oral communication is essential along with the drive to deliver the best possible service at all times, in an often busy and pressurized environment.

  • Willingness to work towards achieving CIEH Level 2 in Food Safety and NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in support services and customer care, Previous experience of working within a healthcare environment
  • Catering experience
  • CIEH Level 2 in Food Safety
  • NVQ 2- support services, Customer care, Effective communication skills with all levels of public, staff and patients.
  • Able to work in a busy environment., Have a good standard of the English language including both written and oral communication skills.
  • Numeracy skills for cash handling.
  • Ability to work as a team member or on own initiative, Able to demonstrate a commitment to and understanding of the importance of treating all individuals with dignity and respect appropriate to their individual needs.
