Job summary

St Barnabas Hospices in Worthing/Hove area seeks a motivated Retail Shop Manager to lead one of our charity shops. You will manage staff and volunteers, handle weekly cash, stock and Gift Aid, and keep the shop safe and inviting.

You will promote our services and maximise income while delivering excellent customer service. The role requires energy, a hands-on approach, and the ability to work with teams across the hospice.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail or charity shop environment.
• Ability to lead volunteers and staff.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Cash handling and banking procedures.

Job description

Southern Hospice Group offers specialist palliative care through three hospices: Martlets adult hospice in Hove, St Barnabas House adult hospice in Worthing and Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice near Arundel in Sussex.

Our Shops and Distribution Centres provide one of our most important revenue streams and offer quality items and a friendly service.

You’ll be

Using people skills to help deliver income to the hospice. Helping to give excellent customer service, assisting in managing a team of staff and volunteers, stock control, promoting and capturing Gift Aid, daily cash handling and banking, ensuring the staff, volunteers, the shop and the site are safe and secure. You will be energetic and love variety and keeping our shop commercial and appealing. You will have responsibility for all aspects of the business in the absence of the manager after full induction training.
