Job summary

Break's charity shop in Stonehouse is seeking an enthusiastic Retail Assistant Manager to support the Manager in a busy, lively setting. You will work with volunteers, help with cash handling and merchandise stock, and provide great customer service to maximise income.

This 21-hour-per-week role offers a friendly environment, potential to work across other Break shops, and a commitment to equality of opportunity.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing volunteers or staff.
  • Cash handling and POS experience.
  • Understanding of retail environment with sourcing/merchandising stock.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the store manager in daily store operations.
  • Lead and support volunteers and staff on shift.
  • Ensure excellent customer service to maximise income and store performance.
  • Handle cash and sales processing accurately.
  • Maintain stock and merchandising to attract customers.

Retail Assistant Manager – Stonehouse

Break has over 50 charity shops in East Anglia and the West Country, operating since 1968. The income from the charity shops is vital to the development and continuation of the services we provide for children, young people and families. We pride ourselves on selling good quality donated goods at affordable prices. We operate a recycling system, so every donation is put to good use, generating more income.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to support the Manager in our established charity shop in Stonehouse, Gloucester. The ideal candidate will have great people skills and enjoy working in a busy environment. There is also the possibility to accrue more working hours by working at other Break shops within the area.

Key Responsibilities

You will have the ability to manage a team of volunteers/staff, cash handling and an understanding of retail environment. Great customer service is essential to maximise income as is sourcing and merchandising stock.

Please be aware this role contains a considerable amount of physical activity, including some heavy lifting.

Salary: £13,912 per annum

Hours: 21 hours per week, split over 3 days
