Job summary

Job Overview

We are more than just a shop—we are a hub for the local tabletop, trading card, and comic book community. Located in Princes Mall, East Kilbride Shopping Centre, we pride ourselves on providing a welcoming, knowledgeable space for enthusiasts and beginners alike.

From Games Workshop & Warhammer miniatures and tabletop board games to major Trading Card Games (Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!) and an extensive range of graphic novels and collectibles, we live and breathe hobby culture.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable Retail Assistant to join our shop floor team on a 21-hour per week basis. You’ll be on the front lines helping customers find their next favourite game, managing stock, maintaining store standards, and contributing to our vibrant community environment.

Key Tasks

Customer Care: Welcome visitors warmly, offer expert recommendations across our product ranges, and answer customer enquiries with enthusiasm.

• Sales & POS: Process cash and card transactions accurately using our till system.
• Merchandising & Stock Management: Unbox deliveries, restock shelves, organize displays (TCGs, miniatures, graphic novels), and assist with stocktakes.
• Store Maintenance: Keep the store clean, organised, safe, and visually appealing at all times.
• Events Support: Assist in supporting organized play events, TCG tournaments, or game nights in-store as needed.

Essential Attributes:

• Passion for the Hobby: Genuine enthusiasm for at least one of our core product areas (Tabletop Gaming, TCGs like Pokémon/MTG, Warhammer, or Comic Books).
• Strong Communication: Friendly, approachable demeanor with the ability to chat comfortably with hobby veterans and newcomers alike.

Team Player & Self-Motivated: Motivated to manage tasks efficiently during both busy weekend rushes and quieter mid-week shifts.

• Reliability: Punctual, flexible, and comfortable working weekend shifts in line with shopping centre opening hours.

Desirable (Bonus) Attributes:

• Previous Retail Experience: Face-to-face customer service or retail experience (full training will be provided for the right candidate!).
• Game Knowledge: Familiarity or rules knowledge for popular TCGs (e.g., Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon) or Games Workshop titles.
