Retail & Admissions Supervisor HMS Belfast

Admissions: The key roles and functions are focused on welcome and income, supporting the branch manager in implementing standards and best practices. This includes providing excellent visitor welcome, information about the ship, entry ticket sales, and guidebook sales.

Retail: The key roles focus on product knowledge, sales, team working, and customer service, supporting the branch manager in maintaining standards and best practices. HMS Belfast has one shop in the admissions area.

As a member of the Retail and Admission team, you will be in a customer-facing role, welcoming visitors, providing information, and delivering high standards of customer service. Achieving sales targets and confidently selling a range of products are essential. You will also support the Retail and Admissions Manager in daily operations, ensuring standards are met.

This role is 22.5 hours per week, mainly covering weekends and one other day.

Duties include:

- Assisting with creating daily staffing rotas for shops and admissions desks, ensuring adequate staffing levels.
- Using IWM’s till systems and knowledge of tickets to maximize revenue, promote gift aid, donations, and memberships.
- Exceeding retail sales targets through proactive customer interactions, product knowledge, and upselling.
- Working towards branch KPI targets, including guidebook ratio, transaction value, and visitor spend.
- Monitoring staff sickness and punctuality, addressing issues promptly.
- Assisting with staff training and induction, leading by example.
- Handling customer inquiries and complaints professionally, processing refunds as needed.
- Adhering to financial and cash handling procedures for security and audit purposes.
- Ensuring smooth operation of admissions, including ticket sales, change requests, and audio guide availability.
- Maintaining accurate EPOS system data, stock management, and price coding.
- Ensuring retail and admission spaces are clean, well-stocked, and well-presented.
- Notifying management of low stock and issues affecting operations.
- Participating in stock takes and ensuring stock safety and accuracy.
- Maintaining professional appearance and behavior, representing IWM positively.
- Monitoring staff performance, providing feedback, and conducting appraisals.
