Job summary

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust (BHT) invites applications for a Resuscitation Specialist to deliver a comprehensive resuscitation service across Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe hospitals and community settings. You will help develop, deliver and evaluate a resuscitation curriculum and support staff training.

The role requires clinical experience in emergency care and ongoing CPD, with responsibility for advising on resuscitation directives and equipment commissioning across the Trust.

Qualifications

  • 3 years post registration experience.
  • 2 yrs experience in acute care setting i.e. Theatres, CCU, ITU A&E, Resuscitation, pre hospital
  • Previous experience in teaching resuscitation skills
  • Ability to accept continuing responsibility for self development

Responsibilities

  • Participate in maintaining a well co-ordinated resuscitation service at Stoke Mandeville, Wycombe hospitals and Community settings.
  • Ensure compliance and implementation of Trust policies and procedures relating to resuscitation.
  • Contribute to the training in resuscitation for all staff; facilitate training to establish recognized competence levels (Resuscitation Council UK).
  • Provide advice to all staff on adult/paediatric resuscitation, cardiac arrest prevention and recognition of the sick patient.
  • Undertake risk assessment activities as directed by the Resuscitation Lead or Senior Resuscitation Officer.
  • Represent the Resuscitation Service as requested by the Resuscitation Lead.
  • Work with colleagues promoting teamwork, motivation, innovation and high standards of clinical practice.

Job overview
  • The post holder is required to, along with members of the team, deliver a comprehensive Resuscitation Service across the Trust at the direction of the Resuscitation Lead.
  • This will include the development, delivery and evaluation of a resuscitation curriculum according to policy and protocols.
  • Assist in delivering an appropriate & comprehensive educational programme relating to resuscitation to all members of Trust staff.
  • Advise & participate in resuscitation practice & work in commissioning of resuscitation equipment.
  • Will assist with advice to all areas of the Trust concerning resuscitation related directives, national initiatives & changes in protocol.
  • Expected to have clinical experience in the field of emergency care, & be able to demonstrate continuing professional development in a range of resuscitation specialties.
  • Post is Trust wide covering two acute sites & community areas
Main duties of the job

  • Undertake risk assessment activities as directed by the Resuscitation Lead or Senior Resuscitation Officer throughout the Trust and report findings.
  • Represent the Resuscitation Service as requested by the Resuscitation Lead.
  • Work with colleagues promoting good working relationships encouraging teamwork, motivation, innovation and high standards of clinical practice.
