Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Educator (Band 7) to provide expert clinical leadership, education and practice development for palliative and end-of-life care across hospital and community settings. The role supports Thames Valley ICB and collaborates with academic partners.

Job overview

The Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Educator will provide expert clinical leadership, education and practice development to improve the quality, consistency and experience of palliative and end-of-life care across hospital and community settings.

The post holder will work collaboratively across the Thames Valley ICB to identify gaps in knowledge, skills, confidence and care pathways, in-order to support high-quality, person-centred palliative care.

A key responsibility will be to provide education to acute and community services, alongside university academic settings.

The post holder will act as a clinical educator, facilitator, role model and change agent, supporting nurses to translate evidence, policy and best practice into everyday clinical care

Person specification
Experience
  • Substantial experience in palliative and end-of-life care.
  • Experience of teaching and supporting nurses and other healthcare professionals.
  • Experience of practice development and implementing change
  • Experience of quality improvement, audit or service evaluation.
  • Experience of working with hospice or specialist palliative care services
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in palliative and end-of-life care.
  • Master's level qualification or evidence of study at Master's level.
  • PGCert Education
  • Quality improvement qualification or experience.
Knowledge
  • Excellent knowledge of principles and practice of palliative and end-of-life care.
  • Knowledge of symptom assessment and management.
