Our international client is currently growing their restructuring division across the UK and would like to recruit a number of restructuring senior associates into their Birmingham team. Ideally, they would recruit people with experience in restructuring, but they are also open to speaking with qualified accountants who wish to learn and develop within restructuring & advisory.

The Business Restructuring team supports clients through challenging situations, from rapid growth to underperformance and financial crises. They are one of the leading restructuring practices in the Midlands, advising on iconic and complex restructuring cases. Typical projects include:

• Managing cash flow and working capital; restructuring debt and other financial obligations
• Raising new financing from banks or investors to address business challenges
• Delivering operational change to improve financial performance
• Realising value through sale of a business or its assets
• Managing key stakeholders and investors
• Undertaking insolvency work when other options are not feasible

The specialist team is part of a wider Deals business. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work closely with other teams on various transactions. Your work will be varied, often fast-paced, requiring commercial, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

The Role:

• As a Senior Associate, you’ll be a key part of a project team, working collaboratively and using the latest technology to undertake various tasks.
• Financial analysis – reviewing financial information and critically assessing assumptions
• Assessing and developing financial restructuring options with the project team
• Creating draft reports and presentations to communicate findings and facilitate discussions with clients
• Supporting transaction delivery
• Implementing parts of insolvency appointments, such as making commercial decisions on ongoing trading or asset realisation strategies
• Contributing to business development activities, including researching new opportunities and building a network within the local restructuring community

Requirements:

• Good communication skills, both verbal and written, including report and presentation writing
• Commercial curiosity about how businesses and deals operate and succeed
• Strong financial analytical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Good understanding of financial accounts; being a qualified accountant is preferable but not essential
• Ability to quickly grasp complex commercial issues and work accurately under time pressure, managing multiple commitments within a team
• A commitment to ongoing personal development
• Prior experience in financial restructuring is not essential; the team has developed from diverse backgrounds, providing a supportive environment for learning and career growth
