Roundhay Kitchen & Bar in Leeds is seeking a Restaurant Shift Supervisor to lead the front-of-house team during service, ensure guest care, and support the kitchen pass at peak times.

The role requires 24+ months customer service and 18+ months food & beverage experience, plus food safety and stock/rota experience. Evening/weekend work and a rota pattern are expected.

Overview

Roundhay Kitchen & Bar is recruiting a Restaurant Shift Supervisor for its busy neighbourhood restaurant in Leeds, West Yorkshire. The role is hands-on: the successful candidate will lead the front-of-house team during service, keep guests informed and cared for, support the kitchen pass at peak times and make sure every shift is safe, organised and commercially aware. This position suits someone who already has experience in a restaurant, caf, hotel food and beverage department or similar hospitality setting. The supervisor will set the tone on the floor, coach team members, solve guest issues calmly and help the restaurant manager keep standards consistent.

Main duties
  • Brief the team before service, allocate sections, check bookings and staffing, monitor table service, operate the POS system when needed and complete cash-up checks at the end of the day.
  • Support stock counts, record wastage, follow food safety and allergen procedures, and escalate maintenance or health and safety concerns promptly.
  • Handle guest complaints professionally, protect the pace of service during busy periods and maintain clear communication between front of house, bar and kitchen colleagues.
  • Help train new starters and contribute to rota planning when the restaurant manager is away.
Experience and skills required
  • Evidence of customer service experience of at least 24 months and food and beverage service experience of at least 18 months.
  • 12 months of practical experience in food safety procedures, allergen awareness, POS operation, cash handling, team leadership, guest complaint handling and health and safety compliance.
  • Six months of stock control and staff scheduling experience.
  • Preferred industry background: Accommodation and Food Service Activities, especially restaurants, cafs, hotels, pubs, bars or contract catering.
  • Job level: Mid-Level / Supervisor, with at least 12 months operating as a shift leader, supervisor, senior waiter, team leader or equivalent.
Qualifications
  • A Level 2 Food Safety in Catering certificate is required.
  • GCSE English Grade 4/C or an equivalent functional skills qualification is also requested because the role involves writing shift notes, recording incidents and communicating clearly with guests and colleagues.
Location and working pattern

The role is based at Roundhay Road, Leeds, West Yorkshire. Candidates must be able to work in Leeds, West Yorkshire and cover a rota that includes evenings, weekends and occasional bank holidays.
