Job Description

Elevation Recruitment Group has a unique and exciting opportunity with a leading manufacturer in Bolton to recruit a Welding Engineer/RWC. The purpose of this role is to oversee welding inspection activities on behalf of the business.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage welding procedure qualification records (WPQRs) for materials prior to welding.
  2. If materials are not qualified for a specific grade, review metallurgy and conduct trial tests, organizing third-party witnesses for tests.
  3. Coordinate Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities.
  4. Coordinate Quality Control (QC) activities.
  5. Ensure all personnel are qualified in accordance with welding regulations.
  6. Handle complex non-conformances, such as cracks in welds.
  7. Investigate and follow rectification procedures for complex non-conformances, working with NDT and the Production Manager to develop solutions.
  8. Maintain welding qualification records.
  9. Authorize Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  10. Review new projects focusing on materials, weld positioning, and types of welds.
  11. Participate in Technical Reviews.
  12. Complete documentation for Traceability and meet specific customer requirements.

The ideal candidate will hold a technical or quality qualification at HNC level, possess an RWC qualification, and have welding inspection experience. A background in quality systems and standards, from a technical or engineering perspective, with knowledge of welding, fabrication, and metals, is preferred.
