Job summary

Care & Support Services Ltd in Birmingham seeks a Responsible Individual to provide senior oversight across children’s residential services and to work closely with the Company Director and Registered Managers. You will lead safeguarding, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement, visit homes, support managers with quality assurance and strategic development.

Qualifications

• Significant senior-management experience within children’s residential care.
• Experience as a Responsible Individual, Registered Manager, Regional/Operations Manager, Head of Service or similar.
• Experience supporting and developing Registered Managers.
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards and Ofsted SCCIF.
• Strong safeguarding, quality assurance and auditing experience.
• Experience preparing services for Ofsted inspection.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior oversight across children’s residential services and work with the Company Director and Registered Managers.
• Supervise, support and challenge managers; conduct home visits and quality assurance activities.
• Oversee safeguarding and regulatory compliance; review Regulation 44 and 45 processes; maintain Ofsted readiness.
• Monitor staffing, safer recruitment, training and management performance; assist with referrals.
• Support service development, new-home registrations and effective placement matching.
• Maintain strong relationships with Ofsted, Local Authorities and partner agencies.

Job description

Responsible Individual – Children’s Residential Services

As Responsible Individual, you will provide senior oversight across our children’s residential services and work closely with our Company Director and Registered Managers.

You will support, supervise and professionally challenge managers, carry out regular home visits and quality assurance activity, oversee safeguarding and regulatory compliance, review Regulation 44 and Regulation 45 processes, maintain Ofsted readiness and monitor staffing, safer recruitment, training and management performance as well as asssiting with referrals, help with potential recruitments when needed and be available for OFSTED inspections or registration visit and potential Reg 44 visits.

You will also review service performance, identify emerging risks, support safe placement matching, contribute to new-home registrations and service development, and maintain strong professional relationships with Ofsted, Local Authorities and partner agencies.

This role is about more than compliance. We are looking for someone who is visible, approachable and confident, with the ability to strengthen managers, improve services and help deliver consistently positive outcomes for children and young people.

Requirements

Significant senior-management experience within children’s residential care
