Job description

Job Title: ESG Lead

Reporting to the Head of People Shared Services, you will take sole ownership of developing, implementing, and overseeing ARAG UK's ESG strategies to ensure they positively impact the environment and society. Your role will align with our overarching strategic goals and meet the needs of our business partners.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and maintain the UK ESG policy.
  2. Lead the ESG Framework in accordance with legislation, best practices, and directives from our parent company.
  3. Identify opportunities for improving ESG practices.
  4. Engage with external stakeholders through networking events to shape our UK ESG agenda.
  5. Enhance carbon monitoring through data collection, analysis, and reporting, supporting our transition to net zero.
  6. Develop ESG training and awareness programs, including carbon literacy, with support from our Learning & Development team.
  7. Support procurement to embed ESG considerations throughout the supply chain.
  8. Monitor and support suppliers' environmental performance and compliance.
  9. Promote discussions on Modern Slavery, Human Trafficking, and Supplier Diversity within the supply chain.
  10. Lead relevant forums and guide business leaders in ESG and sustainability responsibilities.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Significant experience in an ESG leadership role within a similar corporate environment, preferably in professional or financial services.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 14001, TCFD, SDR, and EU CSRD frameworks.
  • Proven ability to influence organisational culture through collaboration with management disciplines.
  • Confidence and initiative to shape and lead the UK ESG agenda.
  • Knowledge of frameworks related to ESG, climate risk, and transition to net zero.
  • Facilitation skills for meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in policy writing satisfying legal and organisational standards.
  • Project management experience and a track record in continuous improvement.
