Job summary

George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust is recruiting for a Band 6 Respiratory Physiologist to perform, interpret and report a broad range of respiratory, sleep and oesophageal investigations for both outpatients and inpatients. The post includes deputising for the Lead Respiratory Physiologist when absent and is a permanent 37.5-hour position.

The role requires ARTP Parts 1 and 2 or equivalent and at least two years post-qualification experience in lung function and sleep, with a caring,

Qualifications

• BSc (Hons) Clinical Physiology (Respiratory Function) or equivalent
• ARTP parts 1 and 2 or equivalent
• Immediate Life Support

Responsibilities

• Perform, interpret and report on a broad range of respiratory, sleep and oesophageal investigations
• Carry out specialised respiratory and sleep investigations and treatments to aid diagnosis of referred patients
• Work within professional guidelines and scope of practice across the department's specialist services
• Provide physiological measurements and patient care to outpatients and inpatients
• Get the best results from patients during tests, using encouragement and motivation
• Deal sensitively with anxious or aggressive patients and relatives
• Interpret and analyse test data and results with close concentration during procedures
• Give expert opinion to medical colleagues on referral appropriateness, and decide where referral changes are needed or testing is contraindicated
• Communicate with medical, nursing and other disciplines
• Deputise for the Lead Respiratory Physiologist in their absence
• Maintain a caring and compassionate environment
