Job summary

Lewisham Hospital is seeking an experienced lung function professional to conduct routine spirometry and related tests. You will lead spirometry training, support practitioners across various healthcare settings, and actively contribute to colleagues’ continuing professional development.

You will manage your own patient caseload, adhere to departmental guidelines, and report any equipment faults to senior staff in a timely manner.

Qualifications

• Experience performing spirometry with reversibility testing.
• Experience with FeNO testing and related lung function assessments.
• Ability to issue and manage overnight oximeters and related equipment.
• Competence in capillary blood gas sampling and interpretation.
• Experience calibrating and verifying lung function equipment.
• Willingness to train and support colleagues and practitioners.
• Ability to report equipment faults according to local protocols.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine lung function investigations to a high standard.
• Lead on spirometry training and provide guidance to practitioners.
• Develop CPD activities for colleagues and support ongoing learning.
• Manage own patient caseload and clinics within department guidelines.

Job description

The post holder will be responsible for carrying out routine lung function investigations to a high standard and in a professional manner whilst working within departmental guidelines, both at Lewisham Hospital and also in the community setting. They will be required to lead on spirometry training, offering support and guidance to practitioners across a variety of healthcare settings and taking an active role in the continuing professional development of their colleagues.
