Job summary

Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Respiratory Physiologist to support the head of department in delivering a high-quality diagnostic lung function service across sites, primarily Finchley Memorial Hospital.

You will perform extensive respiratory investigations, participate in research and audits, and help develop standards in a large specialist teaching hospital. Flexibility to work across Royal Free London sites is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of respiratory function tests including gas transfer measurements, lung volumes by plethysmography and nitrogen washout, airway resistance, bronchodilator response, blood gas analysis, field walk tests and respiratory muscle testing
• Perform microvascular imaging such as nailfold capillaroscopy and infrared thermography with quality assurance
• Ensure functioning, calibration and QA of complex respiratory instruments and maintain calibration records
• Triage referrals from other trusts and GPs, and return results to trusts/GPs
• Contribute to service improvement and IQIPS accreditation and cross-site service development
