Job summary

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join the Respiratory Medicine/ICU team based at West Middlesex University Hospital. The role focuses on advanced assessment, intervention, leadership within the therapy team, and involvement in education and service development.

Applicants should have broad clinical experience at Band 5 or equivalent and be prepared for weekend work and potential extended hours.

Qualifications

• Broad range of clinical experience at Band 5 level or equivalent junior level.
• Willingness to develop towards Band 6 with supervision and training.

Responsibilities

• Carry out assessments for a designated caseload addressing occupational performance.
• Identify and agree treatment goals with clients balancing risk, safety, independence and eligibility.
• Establish a therapeutic relationship and manage communication barriers.
• Plan and implement individual/group interventions using graded activities.
• Assess and manage risk and discharge planning with home visits where appropriate.
• Monitor, evaluate and modify interventions to measure progress and effectiveness.
• Supervise Band 5 OT and therapy assistants and students as designated.
• Represent OT within the MDT and attend ward rounds to inform care planning.
• Liaise with families and external agencies to inform caseload decisions.
