Job summary

University of Oxford is seeking a fixed-term Research Nurse to manage day-to-day respiratory studies within the Oxford Respiratory Trials Unit, part of the Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine. The role covers participant care, sample processing and data management across observational, drug and device trials for lung diseases, with occasional travel for training.

Applicants should have NMC registration as an adult nurse and be able to work within NHS honorary contract requirements.

Qualifications

• Working accurately to procedures and protocols.
• Working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day allocated respiratory studies.
• Coordinate and provide care for trial participants.
• Carry out trial assessments including spirometry, phlebotomy, ECGs, observations and history taking.
• Collect and process biological samples.
• Gather and manage trial data, keeping accurate files and notes.
• Educate patients on medication use and diary completion.
• Train healthcare workers on trial protocols.
• Liaise with the multidisciplinary team and trial monitors.
• Ensure recruitment and follow-up follow trial protocols and Good Clinical Practice.
• Work closely with other research nurses and practitioners in the delivery team.
• Attend team meetings, training and investigator meetings, which may involve travel.
