Job summary

Cambridgeshire Constabulary is seeking a Resource Officer to support an efficient resource model. The role is based in Huntingdon with a hybrid working arrangement and 37 hours per week.

You will help ensure resources with the right skills are in the right place at the right time, maintaining accurate information and supporting the admin team. The position offers progression and generous benefits.

Qualifications

  • Experience in police resource planning or similar staffing roles.
  • Ability to use IT systems as a work planning tool.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High level of organisational skills and ability to prioritise work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Take any necessary action to compensate for abstractions arising from annual leave, sickness, court warnings, training and other planned or spontaneous loss. Highlight and resolve staffing issues.
  • Deal with reports showing resources below optimum staffing levels and address or document risk.
  • Use the resource management system to apply duty rosters following staff moves and Police Personnel updates; solve related problems.
  • Coordinate staff deployment cost-effectively for duties/operations, including public holidays.
  • Assess impact of abstractions for training and carry out Time Bank audits.
  • Provide management information and support to admin assistants; act as a point of contact to ensure policy and procedure.

What does the Resource Officer role involve?
Responsibilities

You will be working within a team of 17 people, a mix of Police Staff and Police Officers. We are an essential role ensuring daily police resource requirements are met, as well as supporting pre-planned and dynamic operations. Your main day to day responsibilities will be:

  • Take any necessary action to compensate for abstractions arising from annual leave, sickness, court warnings, training and other planned or spontaneous loss. Highlight and resolve any staffing issues.
  • Deal with reports produced by the system ensuring that reports showing resources below optimum staffing levels are addressed or that the risk is documented and recorded.
  • Use the resource management system applying duty rosters following staff moves and Police Personnel updates. This accountability will include general problem solving of issues.
  • Co-ordinate the deployment of staff in the most cost-effective way for specific duties/operations such as PSU, searches, training. This will include cost-effective staffing on Public Holidays in a fair way, implementing duty changes where necessary.
  • Assist in assessing the impact of abstractions for regular planned training such as officer safety training, PSU, etc and work with Organisational Learning to ensure that training abstractions have minimum impact on operational requirements. Carry out Time Bank audits in accordance with force policy. Re-allocate excess RDIL or TOIL ensuring optimum staffing levels are maintained.
  • Provide management information from records kept, as and when required. Provide support and assistance to the users for the system, including support to the admin assistants. Act as a point of contact for admin assistants so as to ensure policy and procedure are followed consistently.
