West Midlands Combined Authority is recruiting a senior Resource & Workflow Manager to design and embed streamlined, data-driven workflows across the Technology & Insight Directorate. You’ll balance demand, capacity and priorities and partner with Directors, Heads of Service and product teams to improve planning, forecasting and delivery performance.
You’ll shape how the directorate operates, enabling efficient, scalable resource management and continuous improvement, with a 12-month FTC
We have a newly created senior role within our newly established Technology Coordination Unit which offers a rare opportunity to help design and embed the way work flows through the Technology & Insight Directorate.
As Resource & Workflow Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring that technology, data, product and operational teams can deliver effectively, predictably and efficiently across both RUN (operations) and CHANGE (projects, product development and continuous improvement). You’ll provide the single view of capacity, demand, skills and utilisation across the directorate, helping leaders make informed decisions about priorities, resource allocation and delivery commitments.
This is far more than a scheduling role. You’ll work closely with Directors, Heads of Service, Product teams, Data engineers, Corporate IT, Operational Technology and the Corporate PMO to manage demand from the point work is proposed through to delivery and reporting. You’ll identify bottlenecks early, balance competing priorities, and ensure teams are focused on the work that delivers the greatest value to the organisation.
We’re looking for a driven and proactive professional with experience of creating lean, agile ways of working in a technology environment. You’ll be comfortable challenging inefficient processes, introducing smarter approaches to workflow management, and using evidence and data to improve planning, forecasting and delivery performance. Strong stakeholder management skills are essential, as you’ll be working across a complex matrix environment with a wide range of technical and business teams.
Joining a brand-new team means you’ll have the opportunity to make the role your own, influence how the directorate operates, and help create a streamlined, transparent and scalable approach to resource planning and workflow management that supports the organisation’s future growth and transformation ambitions.
Please note, this is a 12 month FTC.
The location for this role is 16 Summer Lane with at least 2 days a week spent in the office.
We advertise salary ranges, with new appointments typically starting at the lowest salary point. In exceptional cases, the salary point may be adjusted to secure the best candidate.
