Job summary

MS Amlin is seeking a Risk Assessment & Pricing Specialist to support ESG Re, combining actuarial insight with commercial judgment in London. You’ll analyse climate, nature, health and systemic risks, partnering with underwriting and model teams to deliver robust pricing and scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience in (re)insurance pricing, risk analysis, catastrophe modelling, or reinsurance underwriting.
• Strong capability in interpreting complex datasets, evaluating reinsurance structures and performing technical risk assessments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Strong time management and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.
• Working knowledge of catastrophe modelling, climate risk analytics or parametric product design (including their limitations in emerging markets and developing economies).
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences, including external partners such as NGOs, development banks and governments.

Responsibilities

• Assess technical submissions spanning climate, nature, health, conflict & systemic risks, including exposure evaluation, structure review, expected loss estimation & rate-on-line guidance.
• Analyse data to build robust, transparent risk assessments & pricing approaches that support business objectives & enable scalable, commercially viable solutions.
• Challenge data, assumptions, catastrophe outputs & pricing methodologies to ensure technical rigour & alignment with MS Amlin’s view of risk and its Sustainability Strategy.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor to the Head of Sustainability & Senior Underwriters, offering insight into expected loss calculations, pricing & renewal considerations, and treaty and portfolio structures including layer terms, loss histories & accumulation.
• Translate unconventional or development-driven proposals into clear, insurable structures with disciplined pricing, strengthening ESG Re's ability to convert pipeline opportunities into bound business.
• Support the ESG Re Team in structuring innovative products (parametric, index-based, blended-finance-backed, sovereign risk pools, community schemes) that support adaptation finance and inclusive growth.
• Support market engagement by preparing technical insights for discussions with brokers, multilaterals, NGOs & humanitarians; help articulate our pricing rationale, risk appetite & product value propositions in the context of systemic risk reduction.
• Work cross-functionally across pricing, model development, data improvement and wider Sustainability initiatives.
