Job summary

South Gloucestershire Council and Vinney Green Secure Children's Home are seeking a Residential Youth Support Worker. You will provide safe, structured care to young people, supporting education, life skills, and emotional wellbeing within a secure setting.

You will follow procedures, maintain records, and work as part of a dedicated team to help young people overcome challenges and prepare for independent life. DBS check is required, and the role includes 37 hours per week on shift patterns.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to Safeguard and support young people with complex needs.
• Willingness to work within a secure environment and follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, consistent care and supervision to young people in secure accommodation.
• Follow procedures, records, and health and safety rules, including fire safety.
• Identify and respond to individual needs, strengths and development areas.
• Build positive professional relationships and support pro-social behaviour.
• Organise activities that enrich lives and support educational engagement.
• Maintain clear, accurate records and use IT systems, including Microsoft Office.
• Uphold safeguarding duties and respond appropriately to concerns.
