The Elms, located in Curry Rivel, offers care and support to children with complex health needs and learning disabilities. We provide a short break service and play an important part of Children's Social Care in Somerset. We focus on promoting independence, social inclusion and choice to provide individual support to children and young people with complex health needs and learning disabilities.

So come join a friendly, passionate team where you can make a real difference-without compromising your work-life balance. We offer flexible hours, strong relationships with children and families, and a warm, supportive environment that's genuinely fun (yes, including the occasional fancy dress!). You'll also benefit from great development opportunities and a leadership team that's invested in your success.

We're rated OUTSTANDING by Ofsted across all areas.

'Children enjoy their short breaks and were seen laughing and having fun with staff. Children make exceptional progress because their needs are really prioritised by the staff who care for them'.

And of course, we do agree!

Role summary

At The Elms, we are a fun and welcoming short‑break provision where children and young people can enjoy new experiences, build confidence, and feel safe, valued, and cared for. Our aim is to create a genuine home‑from‑home environment, where every child has the opportunity to have fun, make memories, and develop their independence along the way.

Working as part of a friendly and dedicated team, you will help create a safe, stable, and nurturing environment where children can thrive. We love being part of the Curry Rivel community and enjoy celebrating events such as Children in Need, Red Nose Day, World Book Day, fundraising activities, themed events, and even the occasional fancy dress day. We believe that fun, laughter, and shared experiences play an important role in creating positive memories for the children and young people we support.
