Job summary

Agincare is seeking a Support Worker for a new not-for-profit children's residential home. You will help children with learning disabilities build daily life skills, routines and independence, while forming trusting relationships.

The role includes a sleep-in rota and full-time, part-time, or bank contracts, with supported NVQ Level 3 training. No experience required, but commitment to NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare is essential; visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Commitment to completing NVQ Level 3 (or above) in Residential Childcare.
• Genuine interest in supporting children with learning disabilities.
• Patient, resilient and emotionally intelligent.
• Able to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins.
• Physically and mentally fit for the role.
• Positive attitude and team-player mindset.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting, positive relationships with children and young people.
• Support daily routines, from school runs and mealtimes to play and bedtime.
• Help children learn life skills and build their independence.
• Work as part of a team to keep children safe, secure and cared for.
• Support care plans, routines and risk assessments, with training.
• Handle challenging behaviour calmly, using a therapeutic approach.
• Take part in active days and activities with children.
• Take part in the sleep-in rota, averaging four sleep-ins a month.
