Job summary

Action for Children’s Tan Y Bryn Residential Service in Rhyl is seeking a dedicated Residential Support Worker to lead shifts and provide a nurturing environment for children and young people aged 7-17.

You will support risk assessment, safeguarding, and personalised care plans while coordinating within the service and contributing to multi-agency reviews. The role offers extensive induction, career progression, and funded industry qualifications.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Health and Social Care for Children & Young People (or working towards).
• Experience leading a team of support workers.
• Flexibility to work a variety of shift patterns as agreed via rota.
• Experience and training in safeguarding.

Salary: £25,949 - £30,000 per annum – With higher salary considered for exceptional candidate plus an opportunity to earn an additional £4,200 per annum based on an average of 7 sleep-ins per month

Location: Rhyl

Contract/Hours: Permanent, Full-time – 37 hours per week

A bit about the role

This Residential Support Worker role leads on shift and requires a committed individual to foster a psychologically safe and nurturing environment for the children in our care.

Their proactive approach to risk management, safeguards our young people’s wellbeing allowing them to guide a team to deliver the highest quality of care.

With a commitment to continuous improvement, they’ll ensure the wellbeing of our children and young people is prioritised by delivering personalised care, guidance and advocacy.

About the Service

Our Tan Y Bryn Residential Service in Rhyl is a five-bedded therapeutic residential home for children and young people between the ages of 7-17 years.

We provide support for young people who are likely to have experienced early childhood trauma. You would be a part of a dynamic team to support and encourage our young people to reach their full potential. Some young people may experience low self-esteem, anxiety, depression and have poor communication skills which can lead to disruptive behaviours and a positive compassionate attitude is paramount.

What you do could make a difference

• Lead shifts with the primary aim of the provision of a high-quality service.
• Co-ordinating responsibilities within the service, with multi agency and producing family information, including analysis and written reports.
• Attendance at professional meetings including reviews, court work etc.
• Supervise and guide staff as required, in accordance with Action for Children policies and procedures.

Let’s talk about you

• Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care children and young people (or recognised equivalent) or currently working towards.
• Experience of shift leading a team of support workers
• Flexibility to work a variety of shift patterns as agreed via the rolling rota.
• Experience and training in safeguarding
