Job summary

Marland Residential is seeking a dedicated Residential Support Worker to join a busy, supportive team in Great Torrington. The role is full-time, weekdays, term-time only, with enhanced pay for sleep-ins and on-call duties.

You will help students with complex needs, build relationships with families and professionals, and support social and emotional development as part of a 24-hour curriculum. The school welcomes visits, emphasizes relational practice, and offers training and progression

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young people in education or care settings.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour and stay calm under pressure.
  • Willingness to work towards Level 3 qualification if not held.

Job description

We currently have a vacancy for a Residential Support Worker. This position is full-time, weekdays, term time only and has additional enhancements and sleep ins (paid). As a RSW you will join a strong team of residential support workers. Through a creative and caring approach, you will build positive relationships with students, their families, and key professionals. You will be able to engage small groups of children in positive activities and play and meet the individual needs of the students across a 24-hour curriculum. There will always be a senior member of staff on duty when you work. You must have the ability to support young people with complex needs, be resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations. You will have a genuine desire to work with young people and the ability to provide social and emotional support for them to overcome barriers and succeed. The school puts the students in our care at the centre of our practice. The school is proud of its relational practice and thrive ethos.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate experience in working under pressure, respond appropriately to challenging behaviour and have knowledge of supporting young people with complex needs and SEMH. Marland Residential are proud to have been graded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted since 2022, this requires a high standard of consistency and professionalism from all team members at all times. A relevant level 3 qualification or willingness to work towards one is a requirement of this position.
