Job summary

Bellway Plc is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to manage the commercial aspects of residential developments across the Gateshead area. You will control budgets, valuations, sub-contractor payments, and orders, while collaborating with management, the construction team, and external contractors to ensure timely, quality delivery.

You will also support material purchasing, take-offs for land appraisals, and maintenance of trade specifications, while travelling to development sites as required.

Qualifications

• Experience of working as a Quantity Surveyor or Surveyor with a residential house builder.
• HND/HNC Building Studies or equivalent with strong numeracy and cost control skills.
• GCSEs in English and Maths; CSCS card desirable for site access.

Responsibilities

• Prepare budgets and site start budgets for each development.
• Produce quarterly valuations and cost to complete exercises.
• Manage sub-contract payments and final accounts.
• Issue and control sub-contract orders with appropriate documentation.
• Carry out on-site measurements and assess payments to contractors.
• Attend meetings with management, construction teams and external contractors.
• Maintain trade specifications and liaise with sales on extras.
• Assist with material buying and take-offs for land appraisals as required.
