Job summary

Tameside Council is recruiting a Residential Childcare Worker to join a team delivering 24-hour care in a Children’s Home in Denton. The role supports young people with complex needs and involves day & sleep-in shifts, weekends and some night duty.

Applicants should be passionate about helping children and willing to pursue NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People within 2 years. DBS checks apply and enhanced safeguarding is required.

Qualifications

  • Passion for working with young people.
  • Willingness to complete NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People within 2 years.
  • Team player with good communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 24-hour care within a Children’s Home for young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Work shifts including day shifts, sleep-in duties, weekends and occasional waking nights.
  • Support and advocate for children to help them reach their potential.

Job description

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: Grade F. Scale 17 - £22,254 to Scale 22 - £24,174 (actual salary plus an additional £2,257 for contractual enhancements bringing salary range to £24,511 - £26,431)

Hours Per Week: 25

Base Location: Children’s Home Denton

We are looking for a Residential Childcare Worker as part of a team providing 24-hour care within Children’s Residential Services. You will be working in a Children’s Home caring for young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs.

Hours of work include day shifts (including sleep in duties), weekend working, UK bank holidays as part of a flexible working rota and on occasion waking night shifts.

Whilst qualification to NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People is an advantage, we accept and encourage applications from candidates who do not hold this qualification.

We will support you to complete the qualification on starting in the role. The qualification will equip you with knowledge and skills to help you succeed in this role and must be completed within 2 years.
