Job summary

Spark of Genius is seeking a Children’s Residential Support Worker for Oaklea Home in Scotland. You will help young people with daily routines, prepare them for school, and plan engaging activities in a warm environment.

The role involves updating records and working with a supportive team to ensure safety and emotional wellbeing. Applicants should be patient, caring, and able to communicate effectively; prior care experience is preferred and a willingness to pursue SSSC qualifications is

Qualifications

• Must have a UK driving licence.
• Experience with digital care records is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support young people with daily routines (getting ready for school, meal prep, activities).
• Provide updates to senior staff in a timely manner.
• Promote individuality and personalised care.
• Maintain and update care plans as needed.
• Assist with light housekeeping to maintain a homely environment.
• Build warm relationships and provide emotional support.
• Plan and participate in activities like park trips, movie nights, or creative projects.

What You’ll Do

As a Children's Residential Support Worker you will support young people with their daily routines; Getting them ready for school, prepping for meal times and planning activities.

• Ensure our children receive the highest level of support
• Support senior staff with timely updates
• Promote individuality NOT a "one size fits all" approach
• Complete and update care plans regularly, updating with any additional requirements
• Be part of a warm, homely environment by helping with light housekeeping
• Build strong, meaningful relationships and provide emotional support
• Plan and join fun activities like trips to the park, popcorn & movie nights or creative projects

New staff must be comfortable using an electronic care recording system on a daily basis to document, monitor, and update children and young people’s records accurately. Experience with Clearcare is an advantage, but not essential, as full training will be provided. However, all staff are expected to confidently use digital systems as part of their day-to-day role.

• Previous experience is preferred or maybe you have cared for a friend or family member
• Desire to work towards SSSC qualifications
• Manual UK driving licence is essential

• Someone with the desire to take pride in helping others
