Job summary

Family Care is seeking a Residential Childcare Worker in Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester. You will deliver daily care and emotional support within a therapeutic model, collaborating with in-house therapists to ensure consistent, personalised support for each young person.

The role requires experience with children/young people with learning disabilities, NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or to work towards), and a calm, proactive, and empathetic approach.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, young people or adults with learning disabilities.
• NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare or equivalent (or willingness to work towards).
• Empathetic, patient, and positive attitude.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A calm and proactive approach to challenges.
• Full UK driving licence (desirable but not essential).

Responsibilities

• Support children and young people with learning disabilities in their everyday routines.
• Promote independence and encourage participation in household and community activities.
• Help manage personal care needs where required, with dignity and respect.
• Build trusting relationships and provide emotional support.
• Follow individual care plans and contribute to their development.
• Work effectively as part of a consistent and professional care team, including undertaking sleep-in, shift/rota work (including weekends).
• Maintain detailed and accurate records.

About the role:

As a Residential Childcare Worker you'll play a vital role in delivering daily care, emotional support, and meaningful interactions that help each young person grow and thrive in a safe, nurturing environment. Working within the home's Therapeutic Model, you'll collaborate closely with our in-house therapeutic practitioners to ensure every young person receives the consistent, personalised support they need to make lasting, positive changes in their lives.
