Job summary

Trigon Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Residential Childcare Tutor/Assessor to deliver qualifications up to Level 5 across the South West region. Hybrid role combining remote delivery with face-to-face learner visits, supporting learners from induction to completion.

Role requires Level 3 Residential Childcare and a willingness to travel; QA, IQA and TAQA qualifications are desirable. Salary reflects experience, with a competitive package and car allowance for IQA candidates.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification (or above) in Residential Childcare.
• Experience working within Residential Childcare settings.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage a learner caseload effectively.
• Confident using Microsoft Teams and e-portfolio systems.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout the South West region.
• TAQA/CAVA/A1/D32/D33 or equivalent (Desirable).
• Experience delivering residential childcare qualifications or apprenticeships (Desirable).
• Experience delivering blended or hybrid learning (Desirable).

Responsibilities

• Deliver teaching, learning and assessment across Residential Childcare qualifications up to Level 5.
• Manage a caseload of learners across the South West region.
• Conduct initial assessments and develop ILPs for learners.
• Deliver a blend of remote and face-to-face learning and assessment.

Job Role: Residential Childcare Tutor / Assessor

Location: South West England (Covering Plymouth, Portsmouth, Southampton, Bournemouth, Bristol and surrounding areas)

Salary: £26,500 £33,500 per annum

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Qualified IQAs considered from £29,000+ plus car allowance

Role Overview

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Residential Childcare Tutor / Assessor to deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment to learners working towards Residential Childcare qualifications up to Level 5. This hybrid role combines remote delivery with face-to-face learner visits across the South West region, from Plymouth and Portsmouth through to Bristol and the wider West of England area. As a Residential Childcare Tutor / Assessor, you will support learners throughout their qualification journey, helping them develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to succeed within the residential childcare sector.

You will manage a caseload of learners, providing personalised support from induction through to completion, ensuring a positive, engaging and compliant learning experience that drives achievement and progression. We are also keen to hear from experienced Residential Childcare professionals, including Deputy Managers, Registered Managers and Senior Practitioners, who are looking to move into training and assessment. Full support can be provided to achieve the required assessor qualification, with salary reflecting experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching, Learning & Assessment

• Deliver engaging teaching, learning and assessment across Residential Childcare qualifications up to Level 5
• Support learners through a personalised learning journey from enrolment to completion
• Conduct initial assessments and develop Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)
• Deliver a blend of remote and face-to-face learning and assessment activity
• Support learners to develop occupational competence and professional behaviours

Learner Management & Progression

• Manage and support a caseload of learners across the South West region
• Conduct regular progress reviews and coaching sessions
• Motivate learners to achieve timely progression and completion
• Work closely with employers and managers to support learner development
• Identify and address barriers to achievement

Quality, Compliance & Administration

• Maintain accurate learner records and e-portfolio documentation
• Ensure delivery meets awarding body and funding requirements
• Participate in quality assurance activities and standardisation meetings
• Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion throughout delivery
• Work towards achievement, retention and timely completion targets

Partnership & Employer Engagement

• Build positive relationships with employers and workplace managers
• Provide guidance on qualification requirements and learner development
• Support employers in creating effective workplace learning opportunities
• Promote best practice within Residential Childcare settings

Essential Criteria

• Level 3 qualification (or above) in Residential Childcare
• Experience working within Residential Childcare settings

Desirable Criteria

• Teaching or assessing qualification (TAQA, CAVA, A1, D32/D33 or equivalent)
• Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualification
• Experience delivering or assessing Residential Childcare qualifications
• Experience delivering apprenticeships or funded learning programmes
• Experience working within blended or hybrid learning environments

Training & Development Opportunity
