Job summary

Leeds City Council is seeking compassionate Residential Practitioners to join our children’s services. You will help vulnerable children develop resilience and independence by creating a safe, caring home environment and building trusting relationships.

This permanent role involves shifts across days, evenings and weekends, with sleep-in allowances where appropriate. A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care (or commitment to achieving it) is required, with support to study.

Qualifications

• Good literacy and numeracy, with basic computer literacy.
• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care (or commitment to achieving the qualification)
• Recent experience supporting children or young people with emotional/behavioural issues
• Excellent communication and listening skills, teamwork and emotional intelligence
• Flexibility to work shifts including weekends, bank holidays and nights

Responsibilities

• Undertake key worker role, implement care plans and risk assessments.
• Provide a safe, stimulating living environment and support day-to-day needs.
• Build relationships with children and professionals to support development.
• Nurture children's ambitions for their future and education.
• Support children's emotional, mental and physical health needs and manage behaviour.
