Job summary

Action for Children in High Wycombe is seeking a Team Leader to manage a 14-bedroom Short Break Residential Service providing 24-hour care for 5 to 18-year-olds with moderate to severe learning disabilities.

You will lead a team of residential professionals, oversee shifts, and ensure high-quality, person-centred care. The role requires safeguarding expertise and resilience, with rewarding outcomes for young people and families.

Qualifications

• A minimum of Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People’s Workforce / Residential Care or equivalent.
• Experience in supervisory/management roles.
• Experience in managing and prioritising work.
• Commitment to going the extra mile.
• Experience of working with children with challenging behaviour.
• Sound knowledge and understanding of safeguarding.
• Driving licence is desirable as travel across services may be required.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive relationships by providing emotional and social support to young people.
• Supervise, guide, and train the staff team and volunteers; provide induction.
• Attend professional meetings including safeguarding conferences, reviews and court work.
• Deputise in the manager’s absence and liaise with stakeholders across services.
• Lead the 24-hour rota and manage shifts to ensure consistent care.
