Job summary

Wilderness Way in Whitehaven is seeking a Children's Residential Team Leader to oversee shifts and ensure safe, high-quality care for children in a residential setting. You will coach Residential Support Workers, champion trauma-informed care, manage care plans and risk assessments, and work with families, schools and professionals to achieve positive outcomes for young people.

This role emphasises safeguarding, development of teams and delivering outstanding services, with a dedicated induction

Qualifications

• Hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, Children and Young People’s Workforce, or equivalent.
• Experience in residential childcare, including support for emotional/behavioural/complex needs.
• Leadership experience through coaching, mentoring, shift leadership or staff development.
• Be 21 or over due to regulatory requirements.
• UK work status; no sponsorship offered.
• Hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to drive for the role.
• Demonstrate resilience, sound judgement and a positive, solution-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Lead shifts and ensure safe, consistent, high-quality care.
• Coach and mentor Residential Support Workers and Senior staff.
• Champion trauma-informed care and create nurturing environments.
• Ensure children’s voices are reflected in care and support.
• Oversee care plans, risk assessments and records for compliance.
• Lead safeguarding on shift and support decision-making.
• Collaborate with families, schools and professionals for positive outcomes.
• Support audits and continuous improvement in the home.
• Deputise for senior leaders and drive day-to-day operations.
