Job summary

Portsmouth City Council is seeking an Ancillary Staff member to provide a blend of domestic, kitchen, laundry and general tasks within a residential care setting. You will support meals, maintain hygiene, and assist with laundry across resident areas.

The role requires flexibility, a willingness to complete mandatory training (Level 2 food hygiene, safeguarding) and a patient, empathetic approach to elderly residents. DBS Enhanced disclosure will be needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in ancillary work in residential settings preferred.
• Flexible and able to cover a range of cleaning and domestic duties.
• Willing to complete mandatory training (Level 2 food hygiene, safeguarding).
• Empathy for elderly residents and effective communication with staff and visitors.
• Basic IT access for e-learning and information retrieval.

Responsibilities

• Provide domestic, kitchen, laundry and general duties.
• Assist with meal preparation and ensure high presentation standards.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness including floors, surfaces and storage areas.
• Clean/tidy refrigerators and freezers, check temperatures.
• Carry out laundry processes and handle soiled items per policy.
• Possibly attend light repairs and deliver laundry to residents' rooms.
