Birmingham City Council is seeking a Building Safety Officer to help maintain safe, compliant and well-managed residential housing across the city. The role involves supporting the Building Safety Manager, carrying out site inspections, monitoring compliance data and helping ensure thorough records and certification are kept.

We are looking for candidates with a Level 3 qualification in building safety or equivalent, plus experience in housing asset management and stakeholder collaboration.

Formación

• A relevant Level 3 qualification, or equivalent, in one or more of the professional technical ‘Big Six’ building safety areas.
• Experience of housing asset management and compliance within a local authority or similar organisation.
• Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders to support building safety requirements.

Responsabilidades

• Carry out site inspections, assurance checks and investigations across residential housing stock using app-based technology and other systems to record findings and monitor compliance.
• Monitor building safety certification, compliance data and operational information, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
• Identify and report non-compliance, risks and safety concerns to support appropriate action and maintain safe residential environments.
• Work with internal teams, external stakeholders and contractors to support delivery of building safety requirements, including supervising contractors on safety-critical work.
• Support internal and external audits and ensure follow-up actions are completed effectively.
• Engage with residents and support resident participation regarding building safety requirements and service improvements.
