Roles: Resident Engineer in Mechanical, Electrical Disciplines.
Location: Port of Nigg, Scotland
Reporting to: Engineering Manager
As a Resident Engineer, you will oversee the construction and maintenance of civil, mechanical, or electrical infrastructure and structural elements of a Subsea Cable Factory Project in the Port of Nigg.
You will act as the main contact between contractors, stakeholders, and engineering teams, ensuring construction complies with design, safety, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Construction Oversight: Ensure adherence to project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct inspections and quality checks, address deviations or deficiencies.
- Documentation and Reporting: Keep accurate records and communicate project status to stakeholders.
- Technical Support: Offer expertise and guidance to construction teams, resolve engineering issues.
- Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with clients, consultants, regulators, and community representatives.
- Change Management: Manage scope, schedule, and budget changes, evaluate impacts, and facilitate decisions.
- Team Communication: Maintain continuous detailed communication with the design team.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering; a Master’s Degree is advantageous.
- Recognition from accredited programs is preferred.
Professional Licensing and Certification:
- PE license or CEng status preferred.
- Safety Certifications like OSHA or NEBOSH are desirable.
Experience:
- Minimum 5-10 years in the relevant discipline, with strong site supervision and project management background.
- Field experience in large-scale infrastructure, manufacturing, or electrical projects.
- Proven skills in quality assurance, inspection, and compliance with codes.
Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of project management and site supervision software.
- Familiarity with relevant codes (Eurocode, ASME, IEC).
- Structural analysis, HVAC, plumbing, or power systems expertise depending on discipline.
- Leadership, communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills.
