Job summary

Pyramid Eco is seeking a Resident Engagement Officer to be the first point of contact for residents awaiting energy efficiency upgrades. You will collect documents such as council tax bills and tenant consent forms to ensure funding and timely completion of projects.

The role requires personable, persuasive and resilient individuals who can explain retrofit benefits, answer questions and build trust, with training provided as needed.

• Salary: £31,079 to £35,000 per year, plus performance bonus
• Job type: Full-time or part-time
• Schedule: Monday to Friday
• Work location: On the road, visiting residents’ homes

Pyramid Eco is a leading retrofit installation company specialising in energy efficiency improvements for homes, including insulation, solar panels and heat pumps.

Their mission is to create sustainable, comfortable living spaces while supporting housing associations and local councils in their drive towards greener communities.

Role Overview

Pyramid Eco are looking for a Resident Engagement Officer to join their team. This is a critical role in which you will be the first point of contact for residents whose homes are scheduled for energy efficiency upgrades.

Your main responsibility will be to collect key documents, such as council tax bills and tenant consent forms, to ensure projects are funded and completed smoothly.

To excel in this role you need to be personable, persuasive and resilient, as you will often encounter a range of responses from residents, including rejection. A basic understanding of retrofit processes will be beneficial, enabling you to answer questions and build trust with residents. We will provide training on the specifics, but the more background knowledge you already have, the better.

Key Responsibilities

• Resident engagement: Knock on residents’ doors and engage them positively and professionally to explain the purpose of the work and collect the required documentation (for example council tax bills and tenant consent forms).
• Documentation collection: Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and submitted on time to support funding applications.
• Educating residents: Answer residents’ questions about retrofit work, explaining the benefits and addressing any concerns.
• Relationship building: Build trust and rapport with residents, ensuring they feel informed and comfortable about the upcoming work.
• Managing rejection: Handle objections and rejection professionally and with resilience, maintaining a positive attitude.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the project team and stakeholders to ensure smooth communication between residents and the company.

Skills and Experience

• Personable and persuasive: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage residents effectively and encourage cooperation.
• Resilience: Comfortable handling rejection and maintaining a professional, positive demeanour in challenging situations.
• Knowledge of retrofit: An understanding of energy efficiency measures (for example insulation and solar panels) is highly desirable. Training will be provided if needed.
• Communication skills: Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms.
• Attention to detail: Ensure documentation is accurate and complete before submission.
• Problem-solving: Ability to address residents’ concerns and find solutions to overcome objections.
• Driving licence: A full, clean UK driving licence is essential, as travel to different properties will be required.
