Royal Mail P&FS is recruiting a Resident Electrical and Maintenance Engineer at Manchester Mail Centre.

Job reference number: 324672

Salary: £39,443.02 to £42,756.19 per annum (dependent on skills and experience), plus standby allowance of £290/week when on rota, and overtime rate when attending calls. Benefits include 22.5 days annual leave, increasing to 25 after 5 years, plus bank holidays.

Contract Type: Permanent, full-time (37.5 hours/week), typically 08:00-16:00, Monday to Friday, with flexibility required.

Additional Requirements: Out-of-hours callout rota (minimum 1 in 4 weeks) covering a wider area.

The Technician will oversee technical diagnosis, solutions, and leadership at a critical site, ensuring operational excellence through routine maintenance, fault identification, and equipment upkeep. Building strong relationships with on-site customers, supporting engineers' development, and managing subcontractors are key responsibilities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Diagnose complex technical issues and provide guidance.
• Analyse and troubleshoot electrical challenges.
• Ensure KPIs are met/exceeded.
• Lead engineers and subcontractors, fostering teamwork.
• Maintain electrical and M&E equipment.
• Oversee subcontractor operations for compliance and workflow.
• Collaborate with support functions to optimise operations.
• Maintain relationships with client representatives.
• Complete documentation accurately.
• Apply technical knowledge for quality, cost, and time balance.
• Mentor and develop onsite engineers.
• Guide and support engineers/subcontractors for performance improvement.

About You:

• 18th Edition wiring regulations qualification.
• Experience in planned maintenance of electrical systems plus gas, HVAC, or mechanical maintenance.
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks.
• Experience with electrical systems like BEMs, lifts, etc.
• Fault finding and diagnostic skills.
• Effective communication skills, explaining technical issues clearly.
• Ability to analyze complex electrical systems.
• Experience in training and developing engineers.
• Flexibility for call-out and standby duties.
• Full UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
